A Valuable Time

It has been a little over a year ago that God opened His avenues and brought Salah and I here to this homestead. I reflect back on this past year how much God has accomplished in our home.

I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for being with us and being the Living God. It has been a welcome and much needed change. Out here in the peace of the His countryside, we have witnessed the miracle of His seasons and the refreshing and deepening of our walk with Him.

We gave up our cell phones. We chose not to hook up to cable or satellite TV channels. We are doing so well without those things. We have struggled with laying aside our pride and our attachment to other worldly possessions. We are a work in progress. Thank goodness for the Lord’s abundance of patience!

Dear Lord, may we neither tire of seeking after You nor grow weary of raising our arms in praise and worship of you. We ask You to continue the good work You have started in us. We thank you for Your bounty that You have provided and may we not ask or want more than what need. We seek Your will and purpose for us. How may we use this home and land to bless You and build up Your Kingdom? In Jesus’ name, Amen

My husband and I were both 'city' dwellers. We grew tired of the chaos and noise of the city. My husband's dream has always been to have a home and some land 'somewhere over the rainbow'! I just desired a comfortable home where I could care for my husband and welcome our families. God provided us an opportunity to move out into the American countryside in 2008.


The home has been neglected for some time. It is built mostly from limestone blocks. It is very charming and is a most welcoming home. There is alot of landscaping issues and lots of overgrown brush and trees to clear. There is electrical, insulation and heating tasks to accomplish. ALL the bedrooms and the two baths still have 'pull' chain lights!! There are two quanson huts that onced provided a home for chickens. There is an old hog barn and an old corn crib. The old barn was fallen down and only the skeleton shell remains.


I am ever grateful to God for bringing us here. The peace of country living has taken some of the distractions away in order to hear God's voice better.
